Age Group 1

Overview:

Age Group 1 generally consists of swimmers ranging from age 7 to 10 years old. As is the case with all of our Age Group level training groups, the major focus is centered on having fun and learning to love the sport of swimming. The primary training focus of this group is on stroke technique/development, body position, and kick. In addition, swimmers are introduced to basic training sets; solid practice habits are taught and positively reinforced as well. Swimmers in Age Group 1 should focus on learning to swim and compete in each of the 4 competitive strokes.

Attendance Expectations:

Age Group 1 practices 4 times each week for 90 minutes, which includes 15 minutes of dryland prior to getting in the water to swim. It is recommended that Age Group 1 swimmers attend at least 3 of the 4 practices offered each week. A 75% overall practice attendance is the goal for this group. Swimmers are encouraged to participate in meets, as selected by the coaches, approximately once every four to six weeks. The group begins in September and runs through the end of July.
