Junior 2 (JR2)

Overview:

Swimmers in Junior 2 are generally 9 to 12 years old. Proper stroke technique is still the training emphasis along with the reinforcement of proper practice habits. After the beginning portion of the season, there is an increased focus on training and conditioning. Swimmers at this level are expected to train and compete in each stroke and should be focused on becoming as well-rounded a swimmer as possible.

Attendance Expectations:

Junior 2 practices 4 times each week for 2 hours, which includes 30 minutes of dryland prior to getting in the water to swim. It is recommended that Junior 2 swimmers attend all offered practices. An 80% overall practice attendance is the goal for this group. Swimmers are expected to participate in meets, as selected by the coaches, every four to six weeks.
